Tessa
Wegert is a Canadian-born writer specializing in Internet technology,
media, and advertising. She began her career in print publishing
coordinating ad placement for a Canadian fashion magazine before
succumbing to the siren call of writing.
After a quick migration from the
advertising division to the editorial department, Tessa covered fashion
and cultural trends before an opportunity to work in Montreal's Old
Port returned her to her roots. This time the ads were of the
Internet-based variety. She arrived just in time to watch the dot-com
bubble burst.
Although this made for some
challenging years as an online media buyer it provided plenty of fodder
for news stories. By 2001 Tessa was covering Internet
technology as a business reporter. She wrote for The Montreal Gazette, The Globe and Mail, The National Post, BizReport, Marketing Magazine and, south of the border, USA Today's
USA Weekend Magazine. Stationed in a Montreal digital ad agency she
also acted as lead editor of a branded online women's magazine owned by
Procter & Gamble and produced ad copy for such clients as Bell
Canada and CIBC.
A
marriage and move to the U.S. led to a brief and frenetic stint as a
freelance copywriter. During this time Tessa wrote branded Web
site content, ad and e-mail copy, brochures, and white papers for Audi,
Audible.com, Bioré, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and illy caffè.
Today, she spends her time managing marketing efforts for a Michigan-based
ad agency and writing industry commentary for Incisive Media's ClickZ.com and The Globe and Mail.
In her capacity as a digital media expert she has presented at
numerous industry events and moderated forums for Search Engine
Strategies Chicago and New York and the Cleveland Web Association. She
has been featured and quoted in such publications as ClickZ News,
MediaWeek Magazine, Marketing Magazine, MediaPost, DMNews, White Noise
Magazine, and German publications Bestseller and Horizont.
Tessa lives with her husband
and two children in Chicago, IL.
